The day xBox Kinect got hacked the developers are tying their best to bring a new use to the controller. Today a team from Robot Locomotion Group and learning Intelligent Systems at MIT has managed to make Kinect detect all the ten fingers, along with palms to make Minority Report style interaction with the display.

Visualization researcher Oliver Kreylos has hacked into the xBox 360 controller and turned it into a true 3D video camera. The developer used a custom software that interpolated and reconstructed the video stream fed from the controller and color cameras. The result is an awesome 3D virtual reality than can be manipulated by the user at will.
