Microsoft Corporation appears to be readying their answer to the Apple Magic Mouse. Yes, named as the Arc Touch Mouse, to appear next month, it is said to have functionality that is similar in nature to the Apple Magic Mouse.
The mouse from Microsoft, called the Arc Touch Mouse, according to Neowin’s sources, has also appeared on two resellers’ lists, one from Wisconsin, U.S.A., and one from Norway. The pricing for the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse will be in line with Apple’s Magic Trackpad, at just under $70, according to the two product listings. Microsoft also registered the arctouchmouse.com Web domain on March 30, making a solid case for the naming of the product.
If justifiable, the new mouse could be an attempt by Microsoft to drive adoption of their touch functionality that’s natively made into Windows 7 but, so far, only of use to tablet PCs and laptops with multitouch trackpads. A prototype leaked sports a similar arc-shaped profile to the current folding Arc mouse from Microsoft. A curved transparent plastic as well as frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) will be used to track multiple points of contact.
The company is not commenting on the rumor but the Arc Touch Mouse has appeared in a reseller’s price list with an MSRP of $69.95, the screenshot given below shows the price listed.
Since Microsoft did not confirm the existence of the Arc Touch Mouse, there is still a possibility that the product teased on Twitter by the company is something else. Still stay tuned for more updates on this.
