Apple launched its “Magic Trackpad,” which is a touchpad allowing users to operate a desktop computer with finger gestures. So what’s the use of a mouse than?

The Trackpad is a battery-powered device, which looks a bit like a notepad made out of glass and aluminium. It connects to Apple’s Mac desktop computers using Bluetooth wireless technology. It allows users to operate their machines using the tapping, swiping and pinching finger gestures well known to owners of iPhones or iPads.

One of the other interesting design features is to generate the “click” when the user presses down on the device’s surface. The surface of the trackpad causes the feet to push up onto a hinged metal plate that runs along the front edge of the device inside the chassis. That metal plate then contacts a small mouse button to activate the clicking functionality.

It goes wireless, and works using Bluetooth technology, so you don’t have to deal with an annoying cable that dictates where you place it. Once you pair Magic Trackpad with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac, you’ll enjoy a reliable, secure connection up to 33 feet away. Magic Trackpad detects periods of inactivity, and it’s equipped with an on/off switch. Together these features help to conserve battery life, so you can keep gesturing for months at a time.

The new Magic Trackpad is the first largest Multi-Touch trackpad designed to work with your Mac desktop computer. It uses the same Multi-Touch technology you love on the MacBook Pro. The Magic Trackpad costs $ 69 in the online Apple Store.
