ECOtality and Frog Design have come up with a new Blink electric vehicle charging station design that looks super sleek and better than any Gas Pump. It seems that the world is slowly transitioning into an electric-based mode of moving. With quite a number of car manufacturers already getting into the Electric Vehicle or EV market, like Chevy Volt, other industries are following suit by developing related technologies like an effective and widely acceptable charging station for electric vehicles or EV’s.

•The Blink goes operational with a smart touch-screen display
• Drivers can’t by chance put the car in drive and attempt to drive away while their car is still plugged in, as the EV charging station integrates with an EV’s drive system
•The machine has a built-in smart metering system to monitor your usage
•The plug and cable can also withstand being driven over by a vehicle
•The length of the electric cable is about 18 feet long, and the charging station includes a holder for that long cable
Note: The Blink station is compliant with the national electric code requirements, and the plug part that goes into your car, which is the J1772 standard electric car plug agreed upon by the Society of Automotive Engineers, is “safe in wet or dry use.”
Blink Charging Station is mainly designed like a typical gas pump in some ways by applying current driver behaviors and integrating it on the charging station. The only difference is that the Blink can either be installed in residential as well as commercial areas.
