Amazon, the online retailer, has got some ‘grab away’ offer for the students. Yes, it has launched a program for college students, named “Amazon Students”, which offers a free one-year subscription to its premium Amazon Prime service, which normally runs $79 a year. The program also promises exclusive deals and promotions especially designed for you, if you join in. But, to be a part of it, you’ll need to have an “.edu email address” and be enrolled in at least one college course. So do you have one, if yes, precede reading.
Well the offer goes live only for U.S. and that even if you’re not a college student; Amazon offers a one month trial membership. The move is smart, as it’s eerie how addictive free two-day shipping can become. You can bet a good number of the students signing up for the program are going to have a hard time going back to the 3-5 day standard shipping in a year. And even if they don’t upgrade to Prime in a year, students will almost certainly feel some similarity to Amazon over its competitors.
Take care to sign up as Amazon reserves the right to demand proof that you are still enrolled in a university course, so be careful if you aren’t.
