BMW is one of the best luxurious brands, because of comfort they provide with style. Now how about getting an Apple interface in your BMW? Yes, the automobiles giant announced on Wednesday its intention to support what is probably the most incomprehensible new feature in Apple’s iOS 4, iPod Out. This feature will now permit you to connect an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPod Touch, to output and display an iPod interface on a linked device’s external screen. That device, in this case, would be a future BMW or Mini vehicle.

However, the new feature allows users to see an iPod interface on the car’s display while also providing direct control and access to features such as Genius mixes. An Apple patent application filed in May 2008 and published in November 2009 proved that the company had been researching methods to allow media devices like the iPhone and iPod to push their interfaces to accessories to provide more native-like control from the accessories. That technology seems to have finally made its appearance as iOS 4′s “iPod Out” feature being used by BMW.

If Apple adds, changes, or removes an iPod feature in the next revision, the connected BMW or Mini should immediately be able to reflect those changes. The move to iPod Out probably also makes life a bit easier for BMW’s interface design engineers. The iPod Out interface should be immediately recognizable to anyone who’s used an older iPod Classic device and features simple text-based menus and album artwork on the Now Playing screen. Navigating the iPod interface has always been super simple using Apple’s click wheel. Now drive music with your BMW’s iDrive controller.
