Honda is hovering to take the minivan crown back from Toyota! After months of automotive journalists claiming the Sienna’s dominance over the Odyssey, Honda has finally announced the details on the redesigned 2011 Honda Odyssey.

Honda will not follow in Toyota’s footsteps and offer a four-cylinder engine option; instead the new Odyssey will consist of only V6 models. The new van, which is wider than the current Odyssey, sports an extra inch of shoulder room for those sitting up front.

Inside the Odyssey, Honda is touting its, three second-row seat configurations, including an all-new wide mode which allows the two side captain’s chairs to be pulled away from the centre seat, meaning three child car seats can fit all across one row. Other features include available HID headlamps up front, new 18-inch alloy wheels, larger 12.6-inch ventilated front disc brakes, revised side mirrors and a power tailgate. In addition, the Odyssey offers new features like a chilled cool box in the front center console, HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) input, 16.2-inch widescreen entertainment system, 15 cupholders and a trash bag holder.

Other websites describes the car as follows:

Cars.com: The new look is not radically different, but it is closer to the ground and wider, with an interesting profile.

Automobile Magazine: Features like the new Odyssey’s lightning bolt beltline do stand out, but overall the 2011 Odyssey, seems a careful evolution of the last two generations of sliding-door Odysseys.

Autoblog: Honda has yet to release full performance specs, but we do know that there’s a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 under the hood, and early estimates state that the top-trim Odyssey Touring Elite should achieve 19 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway.
