Well have you tried Final Fantasy XIII on your PS3s yet? Well if not then hold on:  Sony Computer Entertainment and Square Enix are being sued over allegations that Final Fantasy XIII is crashing and permanently bricking PS3 consoles. Shocked! Well read more.

Sony and Square Enix decline to reimburse PlayStation 3 owners when their game consoles permanently freeze from playing defective copies of “Final Fantasy XIII,” according to a class action in Federal Court. The lawsuit also seeks over $5 million in damages and various financial reliefs. I remember this is the game that had players standing in line to buy on the day it came out. All the players had to be disappointed, to say the least that their PS3 completely stopped working the first time they play it.

Here is someone sharing his part of the story: Daniel Wolf from San Diego, California is the applicant and says that the game caused severe and widespread damage since its release last March. He says that while playing Final Fantasy XIII, the consoles froze up causing them to be totally un-repairable. They just don’t work anymore afterward. Wolf says Sony offered to fix his console for $270. But he eventually agreed to buy a refurbished PS3 for $150 from Sony because he could not afford to pay Sony for the fix, but it lacked the functionality of the PS3 system he originally purchased.

Neither Sony or Square are willing to talk about the lawsuit bug the suit claims that both Sony and Square have blamed each other for the fault, Square saying it’s the cause of faulty PS3s and Sony putting it down to dodgy discs, but neither apparently willing to fork out for the repair of the consoles.
