Apple had a grand launch on Saturday for its iPad. After its launch, it though proved to be a convincing gadget and sold huge numbers but proved a danger for its competitors. Now the question arises that who would win the tag of “iPad Killer”? Included in the race are many but major concern are three models- HP’s Slate, ICD Gemini and Hott MD500.
HP is to release its iPad killer tablet to counter the Apple’s tablet device.”We’re putting a lot of thought into the design to make sure we deliver an optimal mobile experience,” HP’s latest Slate blog said. The company has also released a short video of its vision on the eve of iPad launch. “So far, almost everything we’ve shared showcases how you’ll consume media with the device,” reads the HP blog. The users can upload images directly to Facebook or Flickr, view images or video from an SD card or a USB device. However, the exact truth will be out when tablet goes for public test in the coming days.
Following this, ICD Gemini is to launch its touch screen tablet to market this year. ICD was showing off a 7 inch tablet with next-generation NVIDIA Tegra graphics at CES and now the company is introducing a model with an 11.2 inch display called the ICD Gemini. The Gemini has a 1GHz ARM-based Tegra processor with support for 1080p HD video playback. It also gets u a 3G modem for data connections and for making phone calls over a cellphone network. The ICD Gemini also sports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM Radio. The only thing that’s missing is WiMAX.
The third just cost around $100 and still look quite good. It’s the Hott MD500, an Android device with a 4.8-inch, 800 x 480 screen and plenty of OS customizations to make it rather more media-friendly, including the ability to “play every codec” according to the guy doing the demonstration. We’ll believe that when we see it, but it is shown playing a 720p clip from the cinematic masterpiece Tokyo Drift and the somewhat iPhone design looks very nice and is much smaller than a comparable Archos 5. The price is $92 to distributors without any flash memory and, since you can get a 4GB microSD card for a few bucks these days, we wouldn’t be surprised if these sell for $115 or $120.
Now lets wait to find out who wins to compete with iPad and wins the title of “iPad Killer.”
