Sharp Corporation declares to start making advanced 3D displays for cellphones and other mobile devices this year that don’t require special viewing glasses. The decision came as a result to stirring demand for small-sized displays required for Japanese LCD panel suppliers after they suffered lethargic demand for panels designed for portable electronics due to a sharp slide in mobile phone sales in the domestic market. Besides, a known factor that co-exists is that demand for 3D images will grow beyond movie theatres and living rooms to portable machines. Sharp dreams to bring 3D to your pocket with displays for mobile devices.
A sample Sharp screen was showed to reporters at a press conference in Tokyo, measuring 3.4 inches across the diagonal and was touch-sensitive. Users will be required to hold the display at a specific distance and angle (approx. 30 centimetres away and head on) to see the 3D effect. According to IDG News Service, the picture is haze if the angle isn’t right, at a certain point becoming unclear. Also, still images appear slightly blur no matter what, although animations far better. Nintendo is working on a 3D handheld gaming console, tentatively named the Nintendo 3DS. Sharp wouldn’t say whether Nintendo is among the companies who have inquired about the mobile 3D displays, but Sharp already provides 2D screens to the console maker for its active Nintendo DS. However, no products have been announced yet.
“Just like black and white TVs turned colour, all displays will ultimately be 3-D,” said Yoshisuke Hasegawa, who oversees LCD operations, at a press conference. Some electronics makers, including mobile-phone makers, have already move towards Sharp about potential supplies of small 3-D displays, Mr. Hasegawa added.

Wow I’m very excited for this kind of screen. 3D that pops out and required you to wear glassed can get annoying. But this would be cool….
Wow dude, I didn’t knew this, cheers.
Commendable Piece….hats off!!!
You challenged me to try something new, and you have my thanks with a link from my place : )
