Finally Flash could be supported on mobile devices-Greets to Google. Google has confirmed that it is working with Adobe and Mozilla to define a gen-next browser plug in API for Flash. Companies like Microsoft and Apple have been giving Adobe a bit of a hard time not supporting Flash on their mobile devices, and putting the fault on the plug in for being subpar. In the times when big players were about to shun Adobe, Google announced that it has actively been working with the company to integrate Flash player directly into Chrome and no more manual updates for Flash would be required, with better security to boot.
The browser supports the new incorporated player if you use the command line argument “enable internal flash” already when launching the app. This step comes as a hit to Apple as it prepares to launch its iPad tablet computer on Saturday in which browser built into the new gizmo does not support Adobe Flash. By incorporating Flash with Chrome, Google guarantees that the users will always receive the latest version of the plug in and that it will automatically update the plug in as needed via Chrome’s existing update mechanism. And in the future, it will include Flash content in Chrome’s sandbox, as specifically termed, which restricts the system privileges of Chrome’s rendering engine in an effort to ward off attacks.
Adobe Flash Player is the most extensively used web browser plug in till date. It permits a wide range of apps and content on the Internet, from games, to video, to enterprise apps. Google Vice President of Engineering, Linus Upson on his blog said, “Improving the traditional browser plug in model will make it possible for plug in to be just as fast, stable, and secure as the browser’s HTML and JavaScript engines. Over time this will enable HTML, Flash, and other plug-ins to be used together more seamlessly in rendering and scripting.” But to be conclusive, hats off to Google, for making things possible.
