Microsoft’s latest software allows you to access Windows XP Mode on Windows 7 PCs, without certain hardware requirements. It is specially designed for small and midsize businesses to access Windows 7 while retaining access to critical apps that are unable to run on machines equipped with Microsoft’s latest operating system. Therefore, users will no longer be in need to use hardware virtualization technology in order to run their computers in Windows XP mode. Not only this, multiple Windows environments can now be accessed at the same time. Further added features are such as USB support as well as a click launch of Windows XP Mode apps.
According to a Microsoft’s official Windows blog posted on 18th March, it said that the update can also be downloaded from this very Microsoft site. This would also lead to a reduction in the amount of installing virtualization hardware to run Windows XP Mode for a few applications and would help to improve budget of the small companies. Microsoft have recognized that the vast majority of its customers still depend on Windows XP operating system, and wanted those customers to use Windows 7. The new invention allows businesses that rely on hardware and software, to still use Windows 7 in a virtualized Windows XP SP3 environment.
However, no details have been provided as to how running XP Mode without hardware would enhance application performance or not. Most of the Windows XP applications would run in Windows 7, but some would require XP mode for better compatibility. Still its a question that whether this launch will increase sales especially in the small and midsized businesses or will the crowd still continue to stick to Windows they were previously using.
