Google’s Chrome got a boost as Sony has signed a deal with Google to preinstall the Chrome browser on Windows PC alongside IE.
According to a Dow Jones report, all Vaio PCs are now using Chrome as their default browser. A Sony representative told Dow Jones that there are no plans to add Chrome to Vaios outside the U.S.
The deal has given Google’s Chrome something which its rival Mozilla has struggled to achieve. Firefox users have been pressuring major hardware vendors to preinstall Firefox for years, but the best Mozilla has done is to get Firefox preinstalled with Linux-based notebooks and Netbooks.
According to the Finnacial Times reports Google says it’s working on similar arrangements with other companies. If Chrome is the default browser, Google will likely become the person’s default search engine.
Chrome has around 30 million active users or around 3 percent of the global market. This makes it the fourth most popular browser after Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s FireFox, and Apple’s Safari.
