Nokia after dominating world’s mobile phone market with a 38% share of the global market has finally entered the PC market with its upcoming Nokia Booklet 3G.
Nokia Booklet 3G will weigh about 2.7 pounds and is less than an inch thick, with these specs Nokia will face stiff competition from other netbook makers like Acer, HP and Asus with similar specs.
Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices, Kai Oistamo said “A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility, we are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us.”
Also the date chosen by Nokia to announce Booklet 3G is only days before Apple is expected to hold a media event where it may reveal its much discussed rumored tablet. By adding in 3G connectivity it can be assumed that Nokia is racing to seriously compete in the mobile computing market which is about to get all the more interesting.
Features of Nokia Booklet 3G includes
- Intel Atom processor
- Microsoft Windows OS
- 3G and Wi-Fi wireless capability
- Booklet 3G claims a battery life of 12 hours
- It will weigh 2.75 pounds, will be wrapped in an aluminum chassis and will include an HDMI port, an integrated video camera, Bluetooth More about Bluetooth and an SD card reader.
- The Booklet 3G will come with Nokia’s Ovi service, which allows users to access and sync music and data between the netbook, the user’s mobile phone and a Web-based platform.
You may get Nokia Booklet 3G’s at subsidized prices as part of a contract, but seeing as how AT&T are offering a few different netbooks for $200 when part of a contract you would expect them to perhaps try to undercut the competition, especially as it is a flagship model.
