Nissan unveiled its true zero emissions, all electric vehicle the 2010 Leaf, which the company intent to launch in late 2010 in Japan, europe and the United States. Nissan 2010 Leaf is the fulfillment of company CEO Carlos Ghosn’s dream of bypassing the hybrid craze and being the first major car-maker to go directly to EVs.
Nissan is working with electric utilities, private organizations and all levels of government to set up networks of charging stations as consumers won’t go for battery-powered vehicles if supplying them with juice isn’t cheap and convenient . Nissan will sell the car for the price of a comparably sized gasoline-powered car, and company officials say it will be cheaper to run.

Features: The Leaf’s maximum speed is more than 90 m.p.h. (145 km/h) and its range is 100 miles (160 km) on a full charge. A 30-minute quick charge reaches 80% capacity. Nissan Leaf claims the electric motor will output 80 kilowatts, which is the equivalent of about 107 horsepower.

Charging at home through 200 volt outlet will take approximately 8 hours. A monitor on the Nissan Leaf dash will show nearby charging stations as well as the places you can go with remaining charge.
Nissan is designed for zero carbon emission whereas Chevy Volt will reduce the carbon emission and will not eliminate them.
Nissan Leaf is expected to sell for around $30,000. Buyers can apply for a $7,500 U.S. government alternative energy tax credit.
