Nikon on Tuesday announced the launch of S1000pj, first of its kind compact camera with an inbuilt pico projector capable of beaming 40 inch images onto the wall.
The Nikon S1000pj’s projector is powered by LED and can serve up both videos and slideshows accompanied by music, effects and creative transitions. The projector seemed to worked nicely in dimly lit room and the quality of images projected on white surface was quite impressive when projected from about a foot away.
The features included with camera are :
- 12 megapixel sensor
- 5X optical zoom
- 2.7 inch LCD
- Optical and electronic image stabilization
- Automatic scene-selection feature
- Offers warning if your subject blinks
- ISO level of 3200 at full resolution
- ISO level of 6400 at 3 megapixel resolution
- Embedded speaker in the camera will play back audio.
The features of inbuilt projector are:
- A 10 inch to 6.5 foot throw range
- Standard definition VGA resolution
- Brightness rating of 10 lumens
The Nikon S1000pj ships with a projector stand and a remote control that triggers the camera’s shutter release as well as controlling the built-in projector. The projector in the S1000pj is based on the “PicoP” concept design by Microvision, the world’s smallest projector when it debuted at a 2007 CES pre-show event. The tiny projector uses small red, green and blue lasers alongside a small mirror to project an image.
Nikon is set to ship S1000pj in September for $430 and will be available in Matte Black color.
