Taiwanese Web site Infotimes has come up with a report that Apple’s rumored Netbook will come in the month of October 2009 and will have a 9.7 inch touchscreen.
Rumors of an Apple Netbook is taking rounds since last few months but Infotimes claims its story is based on inforamtion from the supposed manufacturing partners and parts suppliers. The report also goes on to add that Apple will not follow the current netbook market trend will produce [touch] screens with about 9.7 inches in diagonal length.
The smaller screen size is unlikely to be a problem because the touch-screen tablet device would have an entirely different user interface than a traditional notebook or ultramobile PC. Rather than interacting with a clamshell device through a keyboard and trackpad, the netbook or tablet would, presumably, have all of the screen real estate devoted to interacting with content.
The inclusion of a touchscreen is likely to increase the retail price up significantly, well above the anticipated $500 mark hoped by many observers. MacRumors suggests a price of $800 is more likely.
