Sharp has updated its Aquos line with new LED backlit LCD displays with the top series named LC-LE700UN. The LE700 series, except for the 32-inch model, also features Aquos Net, Sharp’s Internet-based service that features access to weather, stocks, and games, among others.
The Aquos models will all be available this month and prices will range from about $1,100 for the 32-inch LC-32LE700UN to $2,800 for the 52-inch LC-52LE700UN. All models will support 1080p HD.
Sharp is the world’s fourth-largest seller of LCD televisions and manufactures the panels for both itself and other TV-makers, said output would rise by 11% to 100,000 units per month from August.
Sharp is boasting the 120Hz refresh rate of LE700 series while its competitors are already offering 240Hz in the same category. Sharp is pretty pleased about the efficiency of its LE700 series too, with the 52-inch model supposedly drawing only 105W, about 68 per cent below the Energy Star 3.0 guidelines.
