Michael Arrinton’s touch screen tablet for web surfing is ready for launch in the later half of 2009 as Arrington recently said ‘We’re going to make some really big announcements’ and predicted a prototype would be ready by the end of July.
Mr. Arrington is a former corporate lawyer who became a blogger and founded the influential tech blog TechCrunch, has been talking for a year about building a touch-screen tablet for Web surfing.
According to Mr Arrington the purpose of the CrunchPad will be surfing the web. Turn it on and up comes a browser. It is nothing more than “an Internet consumption device,” for reading, checking e-mail or watching video, Mr. Arrington said.
The features of CrunchPad includes
- A single button for on and off
- Headphone jack
- Built in camera
- Low end speakers
- Microphone
- Wifi
- 512 RAM
- 4 GB solid state Hard Drive
- Touch Screen keyboard
- Linux OS
- Firefox Browser
Rumors are circulating that CrunchPad will also include features of ebook readers like Amazon’s Kindle and this combination will be a good buy at $270.
We at Gizbuy.com will come with CrunchPad Review as soon as we get our hands on this device so please keep checking

I’ve been following this closely. It really has come out of the want for more tablet-like netbooks. It was exciting to see the first couple forum threads of what people wanted. This really will be fun. I hope the touch interface works well enough for daily web surfing.
Kudos to them for dreaming!
